On Saturday around 11 AM I reported finding a pair of Blue Grosbeaks in SW LQP
County. Both birds flew west about 200 feet where the Male perched on the upper
branch of a brush pile with the female just below. In good light I got a great
look at both of them, the male in beautiful adult plumage.
Yesterday at 4 PM we located a Blue Grosbeak previously found by Josh Wallestad
at the Danube brush pile in Renville County! Today in LQP county around 11 AM I
found a pair of Blue Grosbeaks north of 150 St on 127 Ave S on the west side of
the road near a brush pile. 30 minutes later I relocated
Today around 3 PM I found two Trumpeter Swans on Crane Lake near Ridgedale, We
live just south of Crane Lake and yesterday Mary Lou heard and saw them flying
overhead. 6 weeks ago they ( or a different pair) were seen at the same place.
There was also a Common Loon and a Great Egret present
I just received a first hand report of a Snowy Owl 1.5 miles east of Marietta
on Hwy 40 as of 5 minutes ago.

Today at Crane Lake, east of Ridgedale Mall and on the south side of 394, I
found a single Trumpeter Swan. There was also around 100 ducks and geese but it
was strange to see just one swan.

Located on Black Rush Lake near Russell. I believe this may be the first
record
of Trumpeter Swans breeding in Lyon County since they were re-introduced.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Cheers,
Bill
