I was able to relocate the Piping Plover that Tony Lau found earlier this
afternoon on the south shore of Salt Lake in Lac Qui Parle County.
On the way I saw the 2 Black-necked Stilts at their usual spot at the NE corner
of Hwy 28 and CR 61 in Big Stone County.

of the landfill east of Hwy 23 near Lynd in Lyon County about 4:15 PM.
Previous observers saw it at around 10:00 AM and around 12:30 PM today. It
requires patience but is well worth the wait. It is a striking white

I was able to relocate the Hooded Warbler reported by Paul Johnson yesterday in
Woodland Trails Park on CR 1 north of Elk River in Sherburne County. At noon

My wife and I made the long journey out to see the Black-necked Stilts at
the Herman Sewage Ponds today. First, for anyone making the trip, Hwy 27
is closed from I-94 to Hwy 55 in Hoffman so plan accordingly. Second, the
town of Herman looks like a ghost town compared to the last time I was

Late this afternoon I found a Snowy Egret at the Waterville Fish
Hatchery Ponds on Co. Rd. 14 west of Waterville. One of the ponds has
now been drawn down and this is where the bird was first seen. It then

This morning at about 7:30 I found a Spruce Grouse on Cook Co. Rd. 2 north of
Tofte just south of where Forest Road 170 heads east towards Baker Lake. I
think this is about 16 miles from Tofte. I then turned onto FR 170 and within a
mile of the intersection I found what appeared to be a family
