A female Common Eider was at Canal Park in Duluth on Sunday afternoon, with
Mallards near and on the shore between the south parking lot and the
channel.
I apologize for not posting earlier, but I was told it was on the area
Saturday and presume it is the same bird that was in the area (but
We are looking at it right now at Canal Park. With the flock of Mallards.

Hi All—
I was just looking at the Duluth Common Eider photos that Gerry Hoekstra
posted on the MOU website (http://moumn.org/cgi-bin/recent.pl?rec_id=5592)
and noticed how different they appear to the eider photo I posted on my
website this morning. My photo was taken several years ago in
Continuing birds around Duluth.
Common Eider was seen at 3:30pm around 16th Ave E heading towards Leif
Erikson Park. Apparently it was around Canal Park earlier in the day.
Golden-Crowned Sparrow also continued today at the intersection of 44th Ave
E and Regent at the feeder.

Bob Meyers found a juvenile Common Eider today (Nov. 13) at the Silver Bay
marina in Lake
County. This is a different bird than the two currently being seen in Duluth
(about 50 miles
away), and is the first record for Lake County. Bob says the bird spent most
of its time in the
bay south
The two Common Eiders discovered yesterday by Karl Bardon are being seen at
15th Ave E and South Street. Tony Hertzel relocated them at this spot a few
minutes ago.

Karl Bardon just found 2 juvenile Common Eiders on Lake Superior in east
Duluth. The birds were at Brighton Beach near the Lester River, but flew toward
Duluth and have yet to be relocated.
Common Eider was last reported in Minnesota in 1966.

Since there hasn't been any recent news on mou-net about the 2 eiders in
Duluth The last I heard they were seen again on the lake out from Leif
Erikson Park around 3:00 but they could not be relocated by Al Loken between
3:30 and 5:00. He searched from 21st Ave E to Canal Park. Birders
