Isn't multiple accounts for the same servers *more* confusing?  I don't 
want to see eighteen different (but essentially identical) accounts in 
my sidebar; I do want to see a number of identities at the top of the 
addressing pane in my Compose window.

If it's a UI issue, why not have the default identity presented in 
Account Settings with an "Identities..." button that opens a further 
window (for the inquisitive/advanced)?

And if this is strictly related to typedown settings per identity vs. 
typedown per account, then I agree it should be per account, pending 
persuasive arguments the other way....

(Yes, my name's on the "allow multiple mail accounts per host" bug, but 
that's for multiple *ports* on a host, for proxied access a la ssh.)
