How I wish it was as simple as you put it. *sigh* Throwing out everything we've put forward in the last year (and yes, I'm well aware it's been about a year, that's my fault) is a bit of a slap in the face. Particularly since I've worked on putting together guidelines to help people write documentation. I have some serious issues with your proposal, at least on first glance. This particular paragraph seems out-of-phase with something fantasai & reviewing crew have been telling me: "Use your favorite word processor: Do not concern yourself with writing style and format. Use a plain text editor if you wish. If you use a graphical word processor such as WordPerfect, switch to the draft mode; the only things you will need is the spelling and grammer checkers. Avoid HTML or any markup/scripting language at early writing stage." The plan, as I understand it, is that we're going to concern ourselves a LOT with "writing style and format" for NEW documentation. (Not necessarily for revisions of old docs.) This is all I'm going to say on it, because I have a feeling my rage is misplaced and misguided. 8) (In other words, I suspect you are making a very good point which I've missed or not compensated for yet. But I don't see that point yet.) Plus, I haven't had a real chance to look the whole thing over yet. Alex P.S. You might have noticed my comment in bug 151101 about posting to the newsgroup specifically to avoid bugspam. For a similar reason, I'd gotten chewed out about adding attachments to the Bugzilla db which weren't necessary. This is why I started using ZOPE: as an archive for me to store works-in-progress so I wouldn't bloat the db. I suggest (and the harshness here is entirely unintentional) you post your documents outside the bugzilla db to a separate location such as moz.zope.org or your own http server for everyone to see.
