compiler. The compile/link/make programs don't suffer from this though.

No, I've always had 400+ bytes. I've never seen less when testing
the Borland compiled version. And I think I can rely on the output from
my cmp program.

CL-Amp has both a mpg123-based and an amp-based plugin, if memory serves
me right. Maybe you're using the mpg123-based one?
