Yes, I think they are used in GMP-ECM since this is where the issue turned
up for me. But I don't know if they are used elsewhere.

out that GMP 5.1.0 has also added these BUT with different declarations.
The GMP functions each return a carry whereas the MPIR versions do not.
Should we do anything about this?
