I have been following the discussion of the raise in property taxes, mine was raised over $1100.00. But what about the cost of heating gas? My bill reflects that the cost this March is a 100% increase, it was .55 per therm last March, it is now $1.08. Is this simply because of the possibility of war? Whatever the reason may be, this high rate (that is not regulated) will have a shocking affect on the low-income when they are no longer protected from cutoff? This can only be another avenue that will leave even more Minneapolis families homeless or at the least without gas service. I'm sure that the gas company will make payment arrangements with those that need them, but how many low-income familles will be able to keep those arrangements?
Higher property taxes, gas, water, and electric bills in conjunction with other factors will add to the already out of control affordable housing and homeless situations in our city. Where will the go? Zack Central TEMPORARY REMINDER: 1. Send all posts in plain-text format. 2.
