1) Biernat: Guilty or not, an embarrassment to the city. This is what happens when
families make politics a career. We don't like politicians, which is why we shocked
the world by electing Jesse.
There's a great line from the movie The Hunt for Red October. An elected official is
having a discussion and replies, "I'm a politician. That means I'm a lier and a cheat.
When I'm not kissing babies, I'm taking away their lollypops." (Norm, Tim, or
Roger?)<--- sorry, I did it again.

2) Bad cops: Cops are people. Occassionally there is a rotten egg in the basket. Don't
consequence the hundreds of good guys over the actions of a few rotten eggs. Every
month we can read about lawyers, doctors, therapists, etc. who are disciplined by the
state board that regulates them. Maybe it would be a good idea if the state had a
board that handled all police complaints. (And not the POST Board).

3) Chief Olson: If the previous Mayor was able to find a couple hundred thousand to
hire McKinley Boston to evaluate city athletic fields (and then report back what was
already known), I'm sure R.T. can scrape up some funds if a buy-out is needed. Please
Mr. Mayor. Let's make sure the next Chief knows the meaning of the word "illegal".

4) Residency requirement for city employees: See 1, 2,& 3. This plan really didn't
work. It was difficult for the city to recruit. High rental and property values were
not competitive with the burbs. Not to mention all the things that get talked about in
this forum (i.e. plowing, housing, crime, etc.)
When I was a kid we left our backdoor unlocked. The milkman put the milk in the
fridge, neighbors knocked and walked in, the mailman left backages inside the door.
Now, in the same neighborhood, you have to lock everything and turn on the alarm when
you leave, put your valuables in the trunk to walk around the lake, etc.
Two years ago I lived, for a while, in Minnetrista. I left my door unlocked, the milk
man put the milk in the fridge...
