Here are some of the reasons that I think people get irritated by waiting
at a stop light for 10 minutes:
they have appointments
they have children
they have competing demands on their time

I think we all would agree that traffic has increased, but the
particular issue that has all our dander up is the lights and timing

on Hiawatha Ave. The improvements north of Lake St. in recent years
along with the significantly increased access from the south below 46th
St. have all added cars. It also seems to me like traffic is increasing

It's my perception that the lights favor the east bound traffic far
more than is necessary. A previous poster made the obvious statement
that lights can not be synchronized for both directions of travel at

In my case I was on a tight schedule to get my two children to the Children's Theater
for a play - I was furious for it ended up making us 15 minutes late and we missed the
beginning of the play.
The other time that really affected me was the time I was on the way to my night class
at St. Mary'
