Dear Steve, Here is a different point of view to consider, offered by a
friend of mine
Speed limits are to cars as stop signs are to bicyclists.Car drivers speed
when they think it is safe to do so. (For that matter-car drivers also run
stop signs) If the car driver is wrong, someone ELSE usually gets hurt; if
the bike rider is is wrong, the bike rider is the one who gets hurt. If you
are going to get emotional about it, the outrage should be directed at car
drivers who "ignore traffic laws." Bicycle commuting is great fun, and for
every bicyclist there is one less car to worry about. Try it sometime, and
you will agree-and it is just possible that you will not bring your bicycle
to a complete stop at every stop sign you encounter.
