Can anyone tell me whether CSD08 for v5.2 will be created? I am trying to formulate a proposal to our client for upgrading to v5.3 with the latest CSD (now CSD05) and if it appears that CSD08 for v5.2 will not be created then I will have a foolproof argument for upgrading. Would appreciate comme
Hi all
Currently my site is using MQSeries v5.2 on both a distributed ( Windows NT) and MVS Mainframe. With the LAN side of things we have not implemented any CSDs associated with v5.2 due to all sorts of reasons - including the fact that there never seemed to be a window of opportunity to inter
We've been trialling BPI at our site and it does all the things that we require with a minimum of fuss and easy to use. And one added bonus is that it doesn't have that extra functionality that no-one ever uses but some commercial tools seem to add in an attempt to impress. Try this one ... it's
We like to try and reboot our servers on a fairly regular basis mainly to maximise clearing of dirty bits of memory that somehow always seem to hang around even if applications are closed cleanly. Most of our servers would get booted weekly (at weekends outside of normal business hours for us).
We recently did an upgrade to 5.2 and it went as smooth as a baby's bottom. A little careful planning and having thoroughly tested your implementation plan on a Dev environment as Tim suggests and you should experience no problems.

Tejinder Good luck with the exam. The trial questions will give you a bit of a hint about what to expect in the real exam. Unfortunately IBM doesn't offer much else in the way of preparation. A bit of a lack of customer support if you ask me. Oh ... be warned ... hopefully when you sit t
I agree with Philip. I cannot see why you'd want to back up the Queue Managers whilst they were active as that might cause all sorts of problems with sync points and database updates 'ad infinitum'. I would have thought a database backup would have been much more useful for such occasions as Dis
Hi all
Probably a dumb question I know but here goes
At our site we are running version 5.2 on a Windows NT environment but currently without any of the CSDs implemented at all. We've decided it is now time to join the 21st century and implement the latest CSD - ie CSD05. But I was wonder
Cost me a heap more than US$40 to sit the exam in Australia. Be aware though that the advertised pass mark is not the same as what they finally grade you at. I have had an on-going battle with IBM over this point. Things are not as they may seem!

Hi Tim
"Moving" an existing Queue Manager to another location shouldn't be too heartbreaking with just a little care and forethought. But I think your safest and best bet would be to keep the existing QM where it is for the moment. Creating a duplicate QM at another location from a text config
/job or what? Or, are you polling the queue with a long running job? Non-persistent messages are not written to disk unless the buffers overflow, so the normal message retrieval should be via memory access. So, the long response times seem out of place.

Documentation worth reading that is readily supplied with products supplied by IBM??? You've got to be kidding!! You may have to end up doing what I did and create your own documentation. At least that way you can set it up to be site specific which will be more useful to an Operations group th
