So what’s the point of it ?

I don’t
think so, I tried it out with the exerciser you get with MQ for Win2k. Do you still have time stamps on 5.2 ?

in my queue manager error log. Have you any idea what I'm doing wrong ?
I understand your comments regarding keeping the certificates up to date.
I'm just trying to understand how this would work at a typical client site.
Thanks again for your h

I've
started thinking about the distinguishing name stuff but I don't think this
helps since QM3 can call himself whatever he likes.
Am I
missing something ? Any help to straighten me out is very much

If you've only just added the user to the mqm group and not restarted your
queue manager since, you will need to refresh your security using the
REFRESH SECURTY command from within runmqsc.

James,
I haven't got my hands on 5.3 yet. I know it adds SSL but
I thought this was only for encryption. Does it help with authentication as
well ?
I'd be interested in retrying my testing with 5.3 in that case.
Thanks,
Tony.

customer was so pleased.
IBM's response - get MQSI 2.1 which was just coming out at the time. That
has a place for you to specify an exit.

wibble has no authority.
This overrides all other userids but does mean everyone gets the same
treatment.
I was pretty shocked when I discovered this but IBM thought it was perfectly
acceptable. They always recommend security exits anyway.
Hope this helps,
Tony.

people don't delete them), I reckon I could put a message onto most queue

Bottom, bottom line, you need security exits !

As a starter for ten, and if you have Java available, the MS0B supportpac
makes creating PCF messages a bit easier. Otherwise, have a look at MS02
which has some examples in it. Creating them from scratch can be a bit
fiddly.

Cer
John,
as a starter for ten, try using something like IH02 or IH03
supportpacs. This can automatically generate an RFH2 header for you on test
messages. You can then look at those messages on the queue and see what
they are meant to look like.
