we run Windows/Solaris/AIX all MQ installs are on 5.3 CSD 4,
only on AIX the setmqtry is documented as you stated, haven't tried
though...
When looking more closely also found setmqprd ...
When digging around in the manuals found the following in the messages

The man page for setmqtry on my AIX server says:
