OK, somehow my Qt setup got messed up in this process.  I assumed it was because of the switch to VS2017.  Maybe it was caused by something else, like my upgrade to Qt 5.12, which I assumed would leave all the CMake configurations the same, so how could it affect things this way?.  I don't
