It's just a database.  I'm assuming you are doing backups of sql.  Just have a routine where you restore JUST the database to some server doing very little (but has SQL of the right version, and enough space) with an old backup.  That'll of course mean that you keep backups going back for xx mon

DA works absolutely fine with Win8 and Win7. I've been using it since it first came out with Server 2008R2 and UAG. I would just suggest to do DA with Server 2012. The main feature that I know of that's different between using Win8 and win7 when using Server 2012 as the DA server is you don't n
