*************************************************************************** RANLP'19 SUMMER SCHOOL on DEEP LEARNING in NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING *************************************************************************** Varna, Bulgaria 29-30 August 2019 **************** https://dlinnlp.github.io/ ********************
~ PURPOSE ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Deep Learning is a branch of machine learning that has gained significant traction in the field of Artificial Intelligence, pushing the envelope in the state-of-the-art, with many sub-areas including natural language, image, and speech processing employing it widely in their best-performing models. This summer school will feature presentations from outstanding researchers in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Deep Learning. These will include coverage of recent advances in theoretical foundations and extensive practical coding sessions showcasing the latest relevant technology. The summer school would be of interest to novices and established practitioners in the fields of natural language processing, corpus linguistics, language technologies, translation technology and cognitive studies. It will be held as part of the 12th biennial conference on Recent Advances in Natural Language Processing (RANLP 2019). ~ INVITED PRESENTATIONS ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * Tim Rocktäschel (University College London/ Facebook AI Research) - Introduction to Deep Learning for NLP * Hinrich Schütze (Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich) - Neural-based representation Learning * Kyunghyun Cho (New York University/ Facebook AI Research) - Latest topics in representation learning for language * Marek Rei (University of Cambridge) – Practical talk on application of deep learning in NLP ~ TENTATIVE PROGRAMME ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thursday, 29 August 2019 ------------------------------------------------------ 09:00 - 10:30 Introduction to Deep Learning, by TIM ROCKTASCHEL ------------------------------------------------------ 11:00 - 15:30 Neural Representation Learning, by HINRICH SCHUTZE (12:30 - 14:00 Lunch break) ------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 - 19:00 A general intro to PyTorch, Hands-on material on embeddings & how pretrained embeddings can improve models for NLP, by HEIKE ADEL ------------------------------------------------------ Friday, 30 August 2019 ------------------------------------------------------ 09:00 - 12:30 Latest topics in Representation Learning, by KYUNGHYUN CHO (10:30 - 11:00 Coffee break) ------------------------------------------------------ 12:30 - 14:00 Lunch break ------------------------------------------------------ 14:00 - 15:00 Sense/synset embeddings, Graph enrichment methods, by ALEXANDER POPOV ------------------------------------------------------ 15:00 - 17:00 Sequence Labeling and Tagging, by RGCL* --------------------------------------------------- 17:30 - 19:00 Application of Deep Learning, by MAREK REI ------------------------------------------------------ * This presentation will be given by members of the Research Group in Computational Linguistics (RGCL), University of Wolverhampton. ~ REGISTRATION and FEES ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please refer to the website for registration: https://dlinnlp.github.io/ ~ CONTACT EMAIL ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ dlin...@gmail.com
