I sent myself a message on another system using an
altered TZ variable.
TZ=PST8PDT mutt j...@mums.jgcomp.com
I'm old fashioned, so I used the old style TZ settings
for Western US.
The header "Date:" showed the PDT date/time.

export TZ=US/Pacific

You don't... your system does that via its time
