Can I manually delete/move a file in .mail/folder/cur ?

Dear list, I use mutt + offlineimap. Can I delete an email manually with "rm" command? For example, can I delete all files in .mail/folder/cur and .mail/folder/new with "rm" command? Will this be equivalent to if I do delete from inside mutt? Similar note: can I move files between folders with "m
