This is not a Mysql issue but an PHP one. The function you are using
(mysql_db_query ?) is deprecated and should therefore not be used. Try
modifying your PHP script to use
mysql_select_db("test");
mysql_query("select * from tablename");
.. instead of
mysql_db_query("test","select * from tablen
