On a linux red hat system I have installed mysql 4.0.12 from the rpms and have been using it. But, a serious problem has developed since another team member installed rekall 1.1.2.

Afteer he installed rekall everthing seemed fine until the next system reboot. mysql failed to start with the the error

030529 11:16:35 mysqld started
030529 11:16:36 Error message file '/usr/share/mysql/english/errmsg.sys' had onl
y 218 error messages,
but it should contain at least 237 error messages.
Check that the above file is the right version for this program!
030529 11:16:36 Aborting

030529 11:16:36 mysqld ended

A qiuck check on a slackware system revealed the files under /usr/share/mysq/english/errmsg.* were BIGGER then what resided on the red hat system.

Both are 4.0.12 installs.

Does anybody know what caused this to happen? And, more important, did anything elase get scewed up?
