Hi, I took the MySQL core and professional certification exams and failed both, so now
I want to go again, but does anyone have any tips or techniques for studying that
they've found useful?

I know the blob field is binary but what would you store there? and if you could give
me an example of real-life uses please.
On debian sarge, I'm trying to add a user for MySQL but every time I try, I get the
following error
/usr/bin/perl: relocation error: /usr/perl5/locale/gettext/gettext.so: unrecognized
symbol: Perl_gthr_key_ptr
What do I need to do?
OK, I ran sh mysqld_safe on my computer and it said Starting mysqld-max deamon.,
went to the next line on screen and didn't give me a command line, which leads me to
think one of two things happened: 1. the server started successfully. 2. the server
startup faild and locked up. I'm hoping it is
Okay, I've got MySQL installed but now I can't start the server deamon, when
I try to start it as the root user, I get the following: Warning: asked for
196608 stack space but got 126976 but on the user mysql I get: bash:
mysqld: command not found.
What do I need to do?

Is MySQL running? check in /tmp or if it was an RPM install, check in
/var/lib/mysql
or just do updatedb
Okay, I got the RPM package installed but when I use rpm -I
mysql-server-4.0.20-0.i386.rpm, I am told that I need several files, most of which I
can't find in the Debian package library. I need the following files: /usr/bin/perl,
sh-utils and sh, where can I get these?
Hi, I'm trying to install MySQL on Debian Linux on an old computer whe had lying
around. (Pentium 2 or three) and I'm trying to install the RPM files so I can install
the software. my problem is with the Perl debian packages, I can't get them
configured, can anyone help?
So now that I know that there's no place around to take courses and where to
take the exam I've decided to teach myself and I have two quick questions.
1. what do I need to know for the exams?
2. would it be better to practise on a UNIX-bases system?
