FULLTEXT search - another question

Hi, Thanks to all who responded to my previous question on how to get the FULLTEXT search to consider hyphens as part of a word. Now my question is, Is there a way to allow other special characters to be part of a 'word'? For example, we have the word +x-axis as part of a short description
