Hello I'm work in the Gdynia Maritime Academy, Poland. I use Mysql database since 5 years. Now We are using Mysql database in the our education course "Databases technology".
This course needed SQL subselect implementation. We compiled and installed Mysql 4.1 alpha version with openssl support on the Linux machnie. The configure parameters ./configure --prefix=path/to/mysql --with-charset=latin2 --with-innodb --with-vio --with-openssl We uncomment innodb settings in my.cnf configuration file. After correctly installation we created users and their databases. We aware how the Mysql system privileges works. We grant none privileges for users in the table "user" and full access privileges to their databases in "db" table. Then we restart mysql server or execute SQL command "flush privileges;" Our data in user and db table -------------------------------- table user **************************************** | Host | User | Password | Select_priv | Insert_priv | Update_priv | | Create_priv | Drop_priv | Reload_priv | Shutdown_priv | Process_priv | File_priv | Grant_priv | References_priv | Index_priv | Alter_priv | Show_db_priv | Super_priv | Create_tmp_table_priv | Lock_tables_priv | Execute_priv | Repl_slave_priv | Repl_client_priv | ssl_type | ssl_cipher | x509_issuer | x509_subject | max_questions | max_updates | max_connections | | % | netom | | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | | | | | 0 | 0 | 0 | | localhost | netom | | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | | | | | 0 | 0 | 0 | | % | irekm | | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | | | | | 0 | 0 | 0 | | localhost | irekm | | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | N | | | | | 0 | 0 | 0 | **************************************** table db ***************************************** | Host | Db | User | Select_priv | Insert_priv | Update_priv | Delete_priv | Create_priv | Drop_priv | Grant_priv | References_priv | Index_priv | Alter_priv | Create_tmp_table_priv | Lock_tables_priv | | % | irekm | irekm | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | | localhost | irekm | irekm | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | | % | netom | netom | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | | localhost | netom | netom | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | ***************************************** Our problem ------------- If user connect to the mysql server from the localhost then the privileges work correctly. If user connect to the mysql server from the remote machine then the privileges work incorrectly. After connect from remote host user randomly obtain difference privileges. Somtimes none privileges and somtimes full privileges to other databases, also mysql system database ;-( Just the same problem appears in Windows 4.1 alpha version and in the developer version (Mysql 5.0). Our temporary solution -------------- We decided to come back to older 4.015a version without subselect support. In 4.015a version the system privileges work correctly in both cases (connect from localhost and remote host) We didin't buy yours service & support, but we are waiting for yours help.
