I'm running mysql 3.23.37 on a Debian potato install.
I ran through the install from the mysql.com web site. Everything seems to
work ok but I do have one question. When I run mysqladmin or mysql I have to
put a ./ in front. I get a command not found if I don't. Is this correct
behavior?
I've narrowed it down some. I'm not finding the answer in archives. From the
manual I found these commands:
shell> mysqladmin version
shell> mysqladmin variables
shell> mysqladmin -h `hostname` version variables
shell> mysqladmin -h `hostname` --port=3306 version

I just installed mysql 3.23.36 on a Debian Potato system. I know your going
to tell me to read the manual. I have been and will continue.
