With the stable version (MyODBC 2.5), the same query works fine.
Do we have to do an upgrade of our mySQL database, or is it a bug?

With the stable version (MyODBC 2.5), both operations work.
I just tested the same operations with Oracle and SQLServer, without
any problems.
So i think it's a bug in MyODBC 3.51.
