on a RedHat7.1 box I have built 4.0a with --vio and --with-openssl, "SHOW VARIABLES like "have_openssl" shows YES.
on the server i have created a user with "grant all on *.* to foo@"192.168.10.%" identified by "password"; and this works fine when connecting from this and other linux hosts using 4.0a "mysql" executables, though i receive the "Not using SSL" message when connecting. the connection invocation looks like "mysql -ufoo -p" from localhost, or "mysql -ufoo -hsqlhost -p" from external hosts. Since i want to use SSL, i change the grant to be "grant all on *.* to foo@"192.168.10.%" identified by "password" require SSL; but now i can no longer connect, receiving the message, "Error 1045: Access denied for user: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' (Using password: YES)" i've tried adding the (undocumented) --ssl option on the connection line, but that doesn't help. Questions: 1) How do i setup the server and client to use SSL? thanks dav lion [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, e-mail <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Trouble unsubscribing?
