I tried following the directions that came with the book "mysql/php database applications". I am told that after installing mysql, one checks to make sure the installation was correct by invoking the mysql daemon (c:\mysql\bin>mysqld). That did nothing there is a piucture in the book that shows a screen shot of the correct deal. Of course, there is no suggestions if the installation did not go right.
