Is there a correlation between myisam table file size and related .myi file size ? If I need to introduce additional index for some field in 40-50Gb table, would there be any concerns about my.ini settings like key_buffer_size etc. Is it possible to place index file to memory to speed up things during table alteration and then unload it ? Would that be rational ?
