Hello, I have been using JDBC with MySQL for the past couple of days without any user id or password. After reading the directions in the privileges section I decided to change the password for root. I used the following example from the online manual: shell> mysql -u root mysql mysql> UPDATE user SET Password=PASSWORD('new_password') WHERE user='root'; mysql> FLUSH PRIVILEGES; After doing this I was able to sign on to mysql as follows: mysql -u root -ptwosouth mysql This works fine and I am able to review the tables in the mysql database with the interactive client. Here is a snippet of java code that I am using to read a table from the database. try { System.out.println("Createing Connection"); Connection Conn = DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbc:mysql://165.121.243.45/test?user=root&password=twosouth"); // "jdbc:mysql://165.121.243.45/test"); try { ... I get the following errors.... SQLException: Server configuration denies access to data source SQLState: 08001 VendorError: 0 Prior to changing the root password I was able to access the database with JDBC with no user or password. Now, I am unable to get a connection even with the correct user and password. What am I missing?
