Try to connect as root (use -u root) or another user which has privilege to
create new databases.
I would like to try out MySQL on my UNIX account (Solaris).
I DO NOT HAVE root privilieges in UNIX. I only have a normal user
privilege.

Server.
But, I get an error msg
Restart mysqld with the --skip-grant-tables option
and then try

I don't have the unix root previleges.

log in as root
mysql -uroot
then you are the boss
