I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I am a complete novice on
MySQL.

I have a Linux box at work with SuSE 9.0 on it, with the default
installation of MySQL 4.0.1 on it. I did not know what I was doing when I
tried to uninstall MySQL using the rpm -e MySQL command. Anyway, I tried to
reinstall MySQL 4.0.15 server and client, but it says package
MySQL-server-4.0.15SBC-0.ppc.rpm already installed, and when I try to
install MySQL-client-4.0.15SBC-0.ppc.rpm, it says Error: Failed
dependencies: perl(the) is needed by MySQL-client-4.0.15SBC-0.

The reason I am trying to install using an older version (4.0.15) of MySQL
is that is the only RPM for ppc that I could find, and I have tried to
install 4.1.10 via binary installation. This also gave unwanted errors, so
I tried (I think successfully) to uninstall that.

Could someone please point me in the right direction to completely remove
all traces of MySQL from this box and give it a fresh, clean reinstall.

BTW when I use the mysqld command, or the mysql command from the root
directory, it says command not found, if that helps anyone.

Thank you for any help that you may give
