I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I am a complete novice on MySQL.
I have a Linux box at work with SuSE 9.0 on it, with the default installation of MySQL 4.0.1 on it. I did not know what I was doing when I tried to uninstall MySQL using the rpm -e MySQL command. Anyway, I tried to reinstall MySQL 4.0.15 server and client, but it says package MySQL-server-4.0.15SBC-0.ppc.rpm already installed, and when I try to install MySQL-client-4.0.15SBC-0.ppc.rpm, it says Error: Failed dependencies: perl(the) is needed by MySQL-client-4.0.15SBC-0. The reason I am trying to install using an older version (4.0.15) of MySQL is that is the only RPM for ppc that I could find, and I have tried to install 4.1.10 via binary installation. This also gave unwanted errors, so I tried (I think successfully) to uninstall that. Could someone please point me in the right direction to completely remove all traces of MySQL from this box and give it a fresh, clean reinstall. BTW when I use the mysqld command, or the mysql command from the root directory, it says command not found, if that helps anyone. Thank you for any help that you may give Mike Brown
