I just got a W2K-based server up and put the database on it. Now that
machine's suddenly gone and I've been given a new Linux server with
MySQL on it (okay, I'm happy about that part).

But I only have a backup of the MySQL folder from the old machine. And
I've been told I can't have the data folder in the same place as the
program.

With this, can I just drop appropriate files into the right place on the
Linux machine and and point MySQL to the right place and have it take
over the database?
