You will get much better results if you provide the following:
Copies of:
my.cnf file from both master and slave
(look in $MYSQL/data or /etc)
$HOSTNAME.err logs from master and slave
master.info file from slave
(look in $MYSQL/data directory)
and check that one does not exist o
