I've just created a link, but isn't it possibly to change the apache of

Check your my.cnf file for the line :
socket =
Then change the path to /tmp/mysql.sock or create a symbolic link
/tmp/mysql.sock to the path that was inthere.
Restart mysql and that should get you going.
