Hello, I've just had a MySQL crash on a very simple operation. I have the following table: *** +-----------+---------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +-----------+---------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | id | bigint(20) | | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | id_cat | tinyint(4) | YES | | NULL | | | uid | varchar(255) | YES | | NULL | | | url | varchar(255) | YES | | NULL | | | title | varchar(255) | YES | | NULL | | | newsintro | varchar(180) | YES | | NULL | | | news | text | YES | | NULL | | | date | timestamp(14) | YES | | NULL | | | file | varchar(255) | YES | | NULL | | | one | text | | | | | | two | text | | | | | | three | text | | | | | +-----------+---------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ ***

It is also possible that this binary or one of the libraries it was linked agaist is corrupt, improperly built, or misconfigured. This error can also be caused by malfunctioning hardware. We will try our best to scrape up some info that will hopefully help diagnose the problem, but since we have already crashed, something is definitely wrong and this may fail key_buffer_size=16773120 record_buffer=131072 sort_buffer=2097144 max_used_connections=0 max_connections=100 threads_connected=1 It is possible that mysqld could use up to key_buffer_size + (record_buffer + sort_buffer)*max_connections = 233979 K bytes of memory Hope that's ok, if not, decrease some variables in the equation Attempting backtrace. You can use the following information to find out where mysqld died. If you see no messages after this, something went terribly wrong... Stack range sanity check OK, backtrace follows: 0x80cec24 0x40031a44 0x80cd252 0x80ac46f 0x80addaf 0x80f4122 0x80f3e56 0x80ed3ea 0x80d5dcd 0x80d9ce0 0x80d4ff1 0x80d43d7 Stack trace seems successful - bottom reached Please read http://www.mysql.com/doc/U/s/Using_stack_trace.html and follow instructions on how to resolve the stack trace. Resolved stack trace is much more helpful in diagnosing the problem, so please do resolve it Trying to get some variables. Some pointers may be invalid and cause the dump to abort... thd->query at 0x83e5628 = SELECT `id`,`title`,`newsintro`,`news` FROM tblname WHERE 0 OR ( BINARY `title` LIKE '%oBiChaM%' ) OR ( BINARY `newsintro` LIKE '%oBiChaM%' ) OR ( BINARY `news` LIKE '%oBiChaM%' ) thd->thread_id=1 Successfully dumped variables, if you ran with --log, take a look at the details of what thread 1 did to cause the crash. In some cases of really bad corruption, the values shown above may be invalid The manual page at http://www.mysql.com/doc/C/r/Crashing.html contains information that should help you find out what is causing the crash *** I tried using the stack trace but I get the following error message: *** exodus:~# nm -n /usr/sbin/mysqld nm: /usr/sbin/mysqld: no symbols *** I'm running a debian box with mysql-server package 3.23.51-1woody. I tried testing it several times with destroying and creating the database, with different users, different table names ... With THIS table profile and contents the query crashes ALL threads of the mysql server. I made tests on another three independant debian boxes running mysql-server 3.23.49-8 and it crashes, too. Unfortunately I don't have access to their log files. Thank you in advance for your help.
