building mysql-5.0.22 from src

hi... i have FC3/4 systems. i'm going to need to have mysql-5.0.22, but there appears to be numerous dependencies that yum can't easily resolve from the RPM i've found. can i reasonably easily build mysql-5.0.22 from src for my FC3/4 systems... the systems are pretty much standard systems.
