Hi! We are using PHP and want to detect if a MySQL server is available or not, but do so very quickly. Will the MySQL library in PHP use a connection client timeout? Can this be set under [client] in /etc/my.conf? Also, what is the connection is a persistent connection, and the server goes down, but PHP has not yet noticed? Is the configuration different? Thanks!
