Hi,

I would like to contribute a new minimal package containing prebuilt
client binaries for Windows/Cygwin. This would help to rectify two
problems:

1) The existing ports (see
   http://www.mysql.com/downloads/os-win32.html) are badly outdated

2) They do not comply with the GPL as they distribute the cygwin1.dll
without the sources, actually without even mentioning where to get
   them.

How would I upload this to the MySQL site?

I also plan to create a package containing the binaries and the
libmysqlclient libraries (static+dll) for existing Cygwin
installations. Those binaries would be dynamically linked and install
into a current Cygwin installation. Would it be possible to host this
package on the MySQL site? If I'd ask the Cygwin folks to host it, the
problem would again be the source code. In this case Cygwin would have
to host a 11MB MySQL source which might not sound like a good idea to
them.

NB I'm not subscribed to the list, please CC me. Thanks!

regards,
Markus
