Good Day !
When installing mysql 5.0.16 on FreeBSD 5.3, after unpacking of the archive and
attempt to execute скрипт:
scripts/mysql_install_db
the system gives the mistake:

Hello.
The recommended way to install MySQL on FreeBSD is to use ports collection.
my_print_defaults: not found
Are you using binary distribution? Put the path to directory which
contains my_print_defaults to you $PATH variable, and check if the
problem still exists.

Hello!
Is there a possibility to install MySQL 3.X and MySQL 4.X parellel on one
FreeBSD-Machine?
I would like to work with the new version, but a lot of utilities
published as free php-software don't run with MySQL withoutn massive
changings.
With best regards

Hi!
Please use our latest 1.7.5 static binary for Linux instead of RPM.

Hi,
This is the first time I have ever used or attempted to install my sql. I am
using a Sun Ultra 5 with Salaris 5.8. I have downloaded
mysql-3.23.34-sunsalaris2.7-sparc.tar.gz and have attempted to unzip this
with the command:
gunzip mysql-3.23.34-sunsalaris2.7-sparc.tar.gz | tar xvf -

All appears to be working but after 10 seconds the process stops with the
error:

tar: directory check sum error.
Fro reading the documentation, it does state that there could be problems
with Sun Salaris but what is the work around?
The work-around is to use
See Section 4.12.1 (Solaris Notes)of documentation.
Use gnu version of tar rather than Sun tar.
