Thanks for the information.
Do you run mysql as service ??Bcoz I do not have the binary files that
you had mentioned.
I use binary files "safe_mysqld" and "mysqladmin" to start and stop the
mysql in my Application.
Any inputs for my below mentioned problem is appreciated.

On Solaris I always use :
/etc/rc3.d/S99mysqld stop
/etc/rc3.d/S99mysqld start
