You need to use the following when you build mysql to use all options.
CC=gcc CXX=gcc ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mysql --enable-thread-safe-client
--with-berkeley-db=./bdb --with-innodb
Not that CXX is gcc and not the c++ compiler from SCO.
