there are only a few reasons why you should NOT use a pre-compiled package:
1. The version of MySQL you want to use (e.g. Alpha-Version) does not exist
for your machine
2. You want to use features not available in the pre-compiled version.
On the other hand there are some very good

Because a different compiler version or different installed libraries can
result in a slightly different binary. If you happen to experience a bug
later it's easier
