Problem:
LiveTV stalls on the frontend with the 'Please wait' message for a couple of
seconds and then turns to black; after a couple more seconds the 'Video frame
Shouldn't be anything additional needed. Just create that file and see
if the issue persists.

MythTV Backend setup and MythTV Frontend are both installed software. Would

If I run irw to test, remote actions don't generate output. top shows
lirc_dev using 100% cpu.
Hardware was previously fine through several Ubuntu releases dating back
