Thank you for that. That file was definitely correct before I started the
upgrade. Somehow all the details were erased during the upgrade. I have
fixed the information and will attempt the upgrade again and will let you
know if it fails again.

You have incorrect info in /etc/mythtv/config.xml. Please ensure the
file has the correct information and try the upgrade again.

This also affects me on Mythbuntu 14.04 x86 64bit with the open radeon driver
and ATI RS880 [Radeon HD 4250] graphics controller.
The workaround for me was to disable xfsettingsd in the GUI Settings under
"Session and Startup":
