Had the same problem after a reinstall, but this old solution did not
work. I found an answer somewhere else though, I just used "sudo
mythtv-setup" and it had to add the sudo user to mythtv's users and had
me logout and login, then i ran "sudo mythtv-setup" again and it loaded
up that time

OK, I got it to work again, make sure the mythtv backend setup is
closed, open a terminal window, run "mythbackend" and wait until you see
that "Running housekeeping thread" is done and hit CTRL+C to close the
backend again, then for some reason, loading the gui version of the
backend setup works a
I also ran the backend from the terminal at one point using
"mythbackend" in a terminal window, maybe that had something to do with
it. I deffinetly have this problem too and got it to work somehow
yesterday but apparently I blew my opportunity to set it up and it's
still not working right.

Ok, so the backend did load after doing that, but I didn't have a chance
to setup my tv at the time, I booted the computer today and I have the
same problem. I'm going to let the backend run until it crashes and try
it again, maybe that's the trick.

I also can confirm this bug, I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 and MythTV 2.6 fully
upgraded and instead of loading a gui it hangs at a terminal window and
I eventually it crashes and says

@Dan Christian - did you ever get it working?
I'm in the same boat except I can tell from your posts that you are a few
grades above me in your linux knowledge. I can follow what you did, but I
wouldn't know the commands on my own without someone showing me like you have
in your posts.

I've got the same issue. I was having issues with my Mythdora setup and so I
decided to wipe it and do a fresh install with MythBuntu. Unfortunately now I
find that I can't get my Snapstream Firefly remote working with it.

HVR-1300 HVR-3000 HVR-4000 broken in kernel
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/4
hello
here is my history with this bug:
- ubuntu 8.04 rock solid
- upgrade to 10.04 with 2.6.32-22 - disaster (too many other problems to list
here, but HVR-1300 is one problem)
- go insane for 1 week trying to fix
- finally download v4l-dvb-20100130 from kewl.org and install
- intermittent
I'm getting the same problem. Fully updated system, just set up storage
groups. Here's what I'm getting when I run MCC from the command line.

I'm running an updated 9.10 with 0.22.0+fixes22594-0ubuntu1 and still seeing
this bug on a clean install.
Changed the AVI player to "Internal" in the frontend and can now play AVIs.
What does "fix released" mean when it is still broken? Released to the ubuntu
repository?

After purging and reinstalling myth, I ran into the same problem.
Thanks to this page, I copied mythweb-config.php from a backup, and it works
now.
It looks like there is still a bug in the mythweb package that stops it
creating the file in some circumstances.
To Mario Limonciello : Ok thanks I'll do that and recreate a separate
bug for Ubuntu live CD and my hardware.

I am experiencing this on the Ubuntu Live CD. Should I resubmit this on Ubuntu
not Mythbuntu? I came here followed the link to this bug given on the thread I

I've just tried it on safe graphics mode following your suggestion, and

Quite I lot of people have experienced this problem: see
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1304287. I think it should be
set to a much higher priority.
I'm having this problem too. I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 live CD 32 bit on an
