Yes. Well, you can't discard audio frames, as that really disrupts the experience, though one possibility is to speed them up with pitch correction. If it is only 10-20 ms/sec it is unlikely you'll even here the difference.. The other option is to add remove frames in video (which is the option

Is the behavior of a playback device defined for when this happens? I'd only heard of applying to broken bit when a GOP gets mangled (e.g. non-keyframe editing). It is my understanding that you set the 'broken bit' to ignore any B-frames which would be presented before the 1st I-frame af

Interesting, I didn't know the PVR cards would do this It's the biggest reason why people bitch once in awhile about trying to burn ivtv captures to DVDs. Most of the HOWTOs out there split into ES's and remux (to add the DVD NAV streams). When that's done, sync gets off since the PTS infor

I wouldn't call myself too knowlegable about MPEG2 stuff, but this is a fairly well-known issue with ivtv streams from the Hauppauge cards. When there's a glitch, it will drop frames and adjust the PTS to compensate. It is especially prone to this on "dirty" signals like from an analog tape (

I am currently looking into MPEG2 processing again. I got myself a ROKU HD 1000, which makes a very nice frontend capable of displaying HD, but it can only play MPEG2 streams, and even then it is quite picky. It does fine on my ATSC streams, but I have some other TS streams that it really doesn
