Hallo. I'd go with the faster drive. There could be more heat and more power draw, but it will make sure that you won't have any issues later down the line if you add extra tuners, etc. And everyone has a war story about a different brand of hard drive. Get one with at least a 3 year

True, but I think that I can probably figure out another way to do this until mouse support is native to Myth. In any case, I think I'll be able to find some other box that can sit behind the T.V. Thanks anyway everyone! Brandon On Nov 23, 2005, at 11:56 PM, Jules Bean wrote: Brandon

. That said, you CAN use it to control your mythfrontend. Install any sort of OS with a Web Browser (pick one with driver support for your screen). Then look at something called MythWifi. David -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Brandon

[mythtv-users] Multiple Screen Support?

I'm eyeing an old Macintosh 512K as the box for my MythTV computer. I would want to replace the internal CRT display with a touchscreen. This way, MythTV's control functions are always visible but the video can be sent to the main TV for games, DVDs, TV, etc. I hope that makes sense-- a

You're right, most touch screens do use mice via serial... but if Myth doesn't support a mouse, how do you choose what to do?  And how does LIRC work if not by emulating a mouse? Thanks for the new insight,BrandonOn Nov 22, 2005, at 4:25 PM, Devan Lippman wrote: On 11/22/05, Brandon Sherman [EMAIL

Well, if you don't care about your videos, RAID 0 will go the fastest. For the best price/speed/integrity, a RAID 5 array will work best. http://www.acnc.com/04_01_05.html can help you determine what kind of RAID array. With RAID 5, the total storage space lost is equal to the number of

Hello, I'd think that a slightly faster processor may be a good idea. Since you are using a Socket A board, it isn't too hard to buy a ~$60 1.8 GHz Sempron or something that would probably help a fair bit. Also, if you have the option of a SATA hard drive, that will be easier to work

Hullo, In my continuing plot to create a MythTV box out of an old laptop, I am now eyeing the hard drive. It is a standard 2.5 drive of unknown speed (I'd guess 5400, no more) and 40GB of space. I'm looking at one of these: http://oss.wischip.com/ Which can give me MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and

Interesting... So, a USB 2.0 card (would also allow a card reader to work for photos, etc.) and the Plextor? MythTV supports the Plextor out of the box...so to speak. One limitation I've found is that although the unit can natively encode mpeg2, MythTV only supports mpeg4 on the Plextor.
