I got the same problem with the external sound blaster live 24!
(usb-audio.o) . I only got two mixer controls for it PCM and Capture. None
for line in etc.

getting the patch working (what to apply the patch against etc). I have
downloaded the source and did a make and make install in the /driver and
the latest binary I mailed to the
ivtvdev list. Unless you are running 64bit there should be no need to
recompile it.
