Quick follow up: putting a signal amplifier on the antenna resolved
the problem completely. I guess that somehow getting low quality data
messes up the live display, while not influencing recording too much.

MythTV is almost perfect for me now, but I am running in a small
wierdness. Sometimes the channel is bad quality when watching live tv,
but when I record it using the 's' key and switch over to look at the
recording the quality is good!

I have just installed mythtv and I am trying to resolve an annoying
issue with the combination of freeview and mythtv. I have a widescreen
TV (16:9 aspect ratio), and if I understand it correctly freeview
broadcasts anamorphic 16:9, i.e. a squashed version of 16:9 that can
